Broken Time

I look past time;
a life worth dimes,
a reach beyond life,
a realm beyond mine.

That shining star calls,
embracing with light,
to look to its life,
to reach what could be mine.

Yet fate asunder rules;
not once, not twice, removed.
the heart no longer worthy,
& druthers the twinkle shines.

As seasons pass,
the star blooms bright.
as seasons pass,
my heart grows blight.

Nostalgia beckons,
that life of contrition.
A burgeoning hold,
making life a burden.

Try as I might,
to reach past mine,
to beat as a star,
& to leave behind.
